The Content Strategist at Signal Theory must be knowledgeable in the areas of content strategy, social strategy and communications planning. The Content Strategist works closely with multidisciplinary teams to create, manage and optimize strategies for content – online as well as IRL – and is responsible for presenting strategies to clients, external partners, vendors and agency teams. The Content Strategist reports to the Senior Content Strategist.
The Content Strategist is responsible for:
STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT
- Work with multiple brands to understand human problems, identify opportunities and develop a clear, strategic and channel-agnostic vision for how content can address human needs and meet business objectives.
- Provide recommendations for content through conversation listening, keyword analysis and social auditing.
- Stay informed on content, social and paid media trends, algorithm changes and tools; educate internal teams and clients of important changes.
- Provide content opportunities and recommendations for new business pitches.
ACTIVATION
- Create content calendars aligning moments that matter to an audience with client’s message
- Understand how to bring communications effectively to life through modern content, especially social mediums (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and TikTok), leveraging their strengths, weaknesses and parameters
- Make and implement content recommendations for website experiences, abiding by SEO best practices
- Brief and provide content creator team with the tools needed to bring content to life, and collaborate during creation process as necessary
- Use understanding of the brand and its content strategy to monitor social channel community engagement and respond in brand tone and according to scenario guidelines for client brands
- Ensure approved content maintains brand integrity and best practices are properly implemented
OPTIMIZATION
- Report against business objectives and deliver actionable insights to clients to drive evolution of content strategy and campaigns.
- Use alerts and social media tracking tools to gather statistics regarding content consumption for individual campaigns.
The requirements and experience the Content Strategist will need to have include:
- 2-5 years of professional experience, with 2+ years developing and implementing omnichannel content strategies
- Some agency experience
- Have professional familiarity and comfort with social media platforms including, Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok, with examples of how they’ve leveraged these platforms for results - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation experience
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ambitious in keeping up with the industry and educating on best practices to internal and external teams
- Ability to work directly with clients and develop relationships on behalf of the firm – collaborative nature is essential!
The preferred qualifications of the Content Strategist include:
- Experience in consumer packaged goods, retail and/or B2B a plus
- Knowledge of social media activation tools like Emfluence, Later, Khoros, HubSpot, Sprout Social, or similar
- Experience in working with influencers or developing influencer strategies
- Experience working with subject-matter and channel experts as well as other advertising and marketing disciplines, including Analytics, Web/Digital Experience Development, Media and PR
- Strong attention to detail and ability to navigate multiple clients and team priorities with ease
